Without that smooth appearance we can sometimes look tired and feel less confident in our skin. Anti-aging injections are very popular as they are a quick and convenient way to smooth out those lines, particularly around the forehead, frown and eye area.

The tear trough, also known as the nasojugal groove, is a small lesion of skin that runs from the inner eye to the outer corner. At times when a patient has a baggy or puffy palpebromalar groove it creates a division of skin between the lower eyelid and cheek. In the clinic I can treat patients for such conditions with tear trough fillers.

Both under-eye bags and tear trough deformities can result in a tired and aged appearance. They can often occur together and both correlate with either loss of fat or a gain in fat in certain areas around the eyelid structures.

Until recently, surgery was the only method for correcting tear trough deformity or under-eye bags, but I use advanced techniques and injection treatments — without surgery — to rejuvenate this area of the face and improve the appearance.

The procedure is performed in the clinic with the assistance of a topical anesthetic. It can take as little as 30 minutes and clients can return home following this treatment.

Anti-wrinkle injections have also brought relief to many people who suffer from chronic medical conditions like headaches.

Injecting around pain fibres that are involved in headaches. The injection enters the nerve endings around where it is injected and blocks the release of chemicals involved in pain transmission. This prevents the activation of pain networks in the brain.

The injections prevent headaches before they start, but takes time to work. I would look to the second and third treatments to maximize effects. Patients can see increasing benefits with an increase in the number of treatment cycles. One treatment lasts for 10-12 weeks.

Although this treatment is actually available on the NHS very few people may be eligible. The treatment will be available for people whose headache is debilitating enough to require preventative treatment to be taken, and then for only the small proportion of those who have not responded to other standard preventative drug options.
