  • What does treatment involve?

It involves the placement of dermal filler to the under eye area. Sometimes in order to gain best results, filler may also be placed in the cheek area. The eye is a very delicate and intricate area to be treated and so it is important to maintain realistic expectations as to what can be achieved via non-surgical cosmetic treatments. In order to ensure you are left with natural results.

  • How long do the effects last?

Results vary from person to person, however, on average around 12 months.

  • Are there any side effects?

As with all non surgical injectable treatments there is a risk of bruising.

  • Is the procedure painful?

This is a minimally invasive treatment with very little discomfort. And typically takes no longer than 10-15 minutes.

  • What’s your recommendations post treatment?

For 48 hours you should avoid, aspirin, ibuprofen, exposure to UV light and heat i.e. sauna, steam, sun beds, hot showers, strenuous exercise etc, as this may increase discomfort and swelling. Keep the area cool with a cold compress, but don’t apply ice which can cause injury.

You may take paracetamol to help with any discomfort and antihistamines (normal hay fever tablets are fine, peritoneal may be more effective but can cause drowsiness) to help manage swelling. Try to avoid unnecessary pressure over any areas treated, especially in the first 24 Hours. Avoid facial massages or skin resurfacing until the area has healed fully.

Reduce the risk of infection and reaction by not touching the area for 6 hours. Do not apply make-up over injection points until the day after the procedure.
