For 48 hours, you should avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, exposure to UV light, and heat, such as saunas, steam rooms, sunbeds, hot showers, and strenuous exercise, as these may increase discomfort and swelling. Keep the area cool with a cold compress, but don’t apply ice which can cause injury. You may take paracetamol to help with any discomfort, and antihistamines (normal hay fever tablets are fine; Piriton may be more effective but can cause drowsiness) to help manage swelling.
Try to avoid unnecessary pressure over any treated areas, especially in the first 24 hours. Avoid facial massages or skin resurfacing treatments until the area has fully healed. Keep the area clean to avoid the risk of infection. Monitor the skin for 48 hours after any color changes. Reduce the risk of infection and reaction by not touching the area for 6 hours. Do not apply makeup over injection points until the day after the procedure.
