  • How do dermal fillers work?

As we age, it is common for the lower area of our face to droop, resulting in a tired and sad appearance. Fortunately, dermal fillers can provide a solution.

By injecting the appropriate type and amount of dermal filler into the specific areas of the face, we can effectively mask the visible signs of aging. The filler is composed of a safe and natural substance known as hyaluronic acid gel, which occurs naturally in our bodies.

Our skilled injectors can help you regain lost volume and restore a more natural, youthful appearance. You can expect a fresher, revitalized look that enhances your features and boosts your confidence.

  • When will I see the results following my dermal treatment?

You’ll notice the results immediately, however, it can take up to four weeks to see the final results as the filler fully settles.

  • Are there any side effects?

Side effects will vary from person to person. Reactions are usually very minimal, though, you can expect a little swelling and this is due to our own bodies natural immune response which is completely normal. As with all injectable cosmetic treatments. There will always be a risk of bruising. For the majority of patients bruising is minimal. On rare occasions it might take up to a week. So, factor this in when you book your treatment.

  • What does treatment involve?

To minimize the risk of infection, we will thoroughly cleanse your face before the treatment. Depending on the area to be treated, you may be offered a topical or local anaesthetic, which will be explained to you in detail beforehand.

Our experienced team takes great care to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure, which typically takes around 30 minutes. However, the actual treatment itself lasts only 10 to 15 minutes. The majority of the time spent in the treatment room will be dedicated to a comprehensive consultation to address your specific concerns and goals.

  • Is the dermal filler procedure painful?

While some discomfort may be expected during the treatment, we take every measure to ensure that your experience is as comfortable and pain-free as possible. Our experienced practitioners offer professional reassurance and utilize techniques such as anaesthetics, ice, and relevant medications to minimize any discomfort.

Your comfort is of utmost importance to us, and we are committed to ensuring that you feel relaxed and at ease throughout the entire treatment process. Our goal is to make your experience as positive and stress-free as possible.

  • What’s the recommendations for post dermal treatment?

For 48 hours, you should avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, exposure to UV light, and heat (e.g., sauna, steam, sunbeds, hot showers, strenuous exercise, etc.) as this may increase discomfort and swelling.

Keep the area cool with a cold compress, but don’t apply ice which can cause injury. You may take paracetamol to help with any discomfort and antihistamines (normal hay fever tablets are fine, Piriton may be more effective but can cause drowsiness) to help manage swelling. Try to avoid unnecessary pressure over any areas treated, especially in the first 24 hours. Avoid facial massages or skin resurfacing treatments until the area has fully healed. Keep the area clean to avoid the risk of infection. Monitor the skin for 48 hours after for color changes.

Reduce the risk of infection and reaction by not touching the area for 6 hours. Do not apply makeup over injection points until the day after the procedure.
